HB14-1002 was signed into law on May 17, 2014, creating the Natural Disaster Grant Fund. The legislation appropriates $17 million of assistance to eligible local governments, including governments accepting grants on behalf of, and in coordination with, not-for-profit water systems.
These grants are for planning, design, construction, improvement, renovation or reconstruction of domestic wastewater treatment works and public drinking water systems that have been impacted, damaged or destroyed as a result of the September 2013 floods. Grants will only be issued to entities in counties where the governor has declared a disaster emergency by executive order or proclamation.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control Division, is now accepting applications for funding as a result of HB14-1002 and has issued an official Request for Application. The deadline for submitting applications is 2:00p.m. on July 2, 2014. The Request for
