The SEOC is monitoring weather forecasts for the weekend and the Saint Charles Fire in Pueblo County and the Trail Springs Fire and Mill Creek 2 Fire in Archuleta County.

Fremont County Support

On October 17, 2023 the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued an update on behalf of the Fremont County Sheriff and Coroner.  SEOC resources have demobilized from Fremont County.

On October 5 Gov. Polis verbally approved an emergency disaster declaration to approve state resources in support of the Fremont County and the  Return to Nature investigation and hazardous materials clean up with the activation of the Colorado State Emergency Operations Center and support of the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Fremont County Support

On October 17, 2023 the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued an update on behalf of the Fremont County Sheriff and Coroner.  SEOC resources have demobilized from Fremont County.

On October 4, 2023, FCSO investigators, the Fremont County Coroner’s Office, and the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies executed a search warrant on the property and determined that human remains were improperly stored inside the building. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Fremont County Coroners’ Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
 
On October 5 Gov. Polis verbally approved an emergency disaster declaration to approve state resources in support of the investigation and hazardous materials clean up with the activation of the Colorado State Emergency Operations Center and support of the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Fremont County Support

On the evening of October 3, 2023, deputies of the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 31 Werner Road, Penrose Colorado, in reference to a suspicious incident. Upon their arrival deputies learned that the building was owned by the Return to Nature Funeral Home based in Colorado Springs Colorado. 
 
On October 4, 2023, FCSO investigators, the Fremont County Coroner’s Office, and the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies executed a search warrant on the property and determined that human remains were improperly stored inside the building. 
 
 As of October 5, 2023, The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Fremont County Coroners’ Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
 
On October 5 Gov.
